Iran postponed the finalization of the agreement with the US until midnight local time to avoid it coinciding with Donald Trump's birthday.
Modern.az reports that the influential US publication "The New York Times" published information about this.
According to the information, the 7.5-hour time difference between Tehran and Washington allowed both sides to declare that the agreement was completed on the date they preferred.
Thus, while the US side stated that the document was finalized on Sunday, Iran emphasized that this happened on the next day - Monday.
The publication notes that Tehran tried to avoid the agreement appearing to be signed on US President Donald Trump's birthday. For this reason, they waited until after midnight local time for the agreement to be formalized.
Thus, the time difference allowed both Washington and Tehran to present the reached agreement in a way that suited their political positions.
It should be noted that the US President's birthday falls on June 14.
