It has been officially announced that the “Civil Contract” Party led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7.
Modern.az reports that the Central Election Commission has announced the official results of the parliamentary elections.
1 million 476 thousand 769 people, which is equal to 58.9 percent of the total number of voters in the country, participated in the elections.
The “Civil Contract” Party led by Pashinyan collected 49.74 percent of the votes and won the majority in the parliament and the right to form the government.
The other two political forces that managed to enter the parliament were the “Strong Armenia” bloc led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan (23.27 percent of votes) and the “Hayastan” bloc led by former president Robert Kocharyan (9.9 percent of votes).
Mandates in the parliament will be distributed as follows:
“Civil Contract” Party - 61 mandates;
“Strong Armenia” bloc - 28 mandates;
“Hayastan” bloc - 12 mandates.
Meanwhile, six political parties issued a joint statement in front of the Central Election Commission building regarding the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7 and the political situation in the country.
The statement says that the parliamentary election took place in circumstances that fundamentally cast doubt on its free, fair and competitive nature.
