Canada and European countries will spend an additional $250 billion on defense needs over the next two years.
Modern.az reports that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this.
"Europeans are strengthening at a high pace, so we will see an additional $250 billion in defense spending from Canada and Europe within two years," he said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
According to Rutte, the main topic of the upcoming North Atlantic Alliance summit in Ankara on July 7-8 will be the implementation of promises made a year ago.
"A year ago, the summit in The Hague was dedicated to promises. This summit will be dedicated to the implementation of those promises in terms of funding, defense industry production volumes, and support for Ukraine," the Secretary General noted.
