The use of electric passenger cars is at a minimal level.
Transport expert Eldaniz Jafarov stated this in his statement to Modern.az. According to him, gasoline-powered passenger cars are the most imported cars into the country, and at the same time, the most bought and sold cars in the domestic market:
"If we look at the statistics of previous years, we will see that there is an increasing trend in demand for hybrid cars. However, gasoline-powered cars still dominate. Despite this, there is no decrease in the prices of gasoline-powered cars. No decrease in prices is observed for new cars either".
The expert noted that a slight decrease in price is observed for older cars with an engine capacity exceeding 3000 cubic centimeters:
"Cars powered purely by electricity are the least driven category".
According to Eldaniz Jafarov, the increase in demand for electric vehicles depends on infrastructure:
"If cars are officially brought into the country, purchasing power can be increased with a manufacturer's warranty. At the same time, the number of charging stations must also increase. It is important to have a sufficient number of service centers".
It should be noted that tax incentives are provided by legislation for the import of passenger cars powered by electricity.
