US President Donald Trump said that controlling Iran's oil and gas sector is one of Washington's main goals.
Modern.az reports that Trump made a post about this on his "Truth Social" social media account.
The US leader wrote that Washington is trying to establish a full control mechanism over Iran's oil and gas market, similar to the model applied in Venezuela.
"In the near future, we will seize Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure facilities, and we will take full control of their oil and gas markets, as we did in the case of Venezuela," the US president wrote.
He noted that the US is preparing to launch "very powerful" strikes on Iranian territory tonight.
