Japan's Minister of Economic Security, Kimi Onoda, commented on the video shared by US President Donald Trump on social media, in which he presented himself as the famous anime character Naruto Uzumaki.
Modern.az reports that the minister emphasized that permission from the copyright holder must be obtained for the use of copyrighted anime characters.
“Of course, I am aware of that post. In general, the principle is that permission from the copyright holder is required to use any image. This rule applies even to government agencies,” Onoda said at a press conference.
The minister noted that even if copyright is not explicitly violated, using the work in a way that is outside the intention of the copyright holder can damage its reputation and image.
According to him, Japan has repeatedly conveyed its position on this issue to the US side through diplomatic channels.
“We will continue the dialogue with the US to ensure the correct approach to copyright. I hope that such cases will not be repeated in the future and that the post will not spread further,” the minister added.
It should be noted that Donald Trump recently shared a video created with artificial intelligence on his social media account. In the video, he was depicted as Naruto Uzumaki, the main character of the famous “Naruto” anime series. The post was met with criticism from anime fans.
