Alen Simonyan is likely to retain the position of Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, despite competition from other "Civil Contract" representatives.
Modern.az reports that "Hraparak" newspaper published this information.
The newspaper reminds that among the potential candidates for this position are Hayk Konjoryan, leader of the "Civil Contract" faction, Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and Lilit Makunts, former Armenian Ambassador to the USA and chief advisor to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
However, according to the newspaper, Simonyan promised his supporters that he would keep his post. But the newspaper's sources noted that the issue has not yet been officially discussed within the party, and the final decision will be made by Pashinyan.
