The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is being held in Baku. This year's stage of the race, organized at the Baku City Circuit, started today. Free practice sessions are held on the first day of the race week, qualifying will take place tomorrow, and the main race will be held on September 26.
Modern.az reports that Baku is hosting the Formula 1 race for the 10th time. The first Formula 1 race in the city was held in 2016 under the name of the European Grand Prix. In that race, “Mercedes” pilot Nico Rosberg won. Since 2017, the race has been held under the name of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The winners of the Formula 1 races held in Baku so far are as follows:

2025 - Max Verstappen - Red Bull
It should be noted that in 2020, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes were made to the Formula 1 calendar due to the pandemic, and the Baku race was canceled that year. The race was held again in 2021.
The winner of the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be announced after the main race concludes.
