Approximately 15 drone specialists from Ukrainian military intelligence have been sent to Mali to assist local rebel forces in the country.
Modern.az reports, citing a source in Ukrainian military intelligence to CNN, that Ukrainian specialists are training local forces in drone use and drone warfare.
In addition, several Ukrainian specialists are reportedly also in Sudan. Earlier, it was noted that soldiers from Chad, Niger, and Burkina Faso went to Ukraine and received training from Ukrainian soldiers on "drone warfare."
Ukraine's activities in Africa are considered one of the new directions of global competition between Russia and Kyiv. The Russian side has also expanded its military and security activities in Africa in recent years, especially in Mali and other Sahel countries.
Russia's Africa Corps acts as one of the main forces supporting the Malian government in the field of security. Thus, the fact that military structures and specialists associated with Ukraine and Russia operate in the same conflict environment in Mali attracts attention.
