The US exports approximately 4 million barrels of oil per day - this is 3 percent less than last year. The decrease occurred for the first time in four years, although domestic production reached a record high of 13.6 million barrels per day.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the “Energy Information Administration” data.
The Netherlands was the leader among oil importers from the US: during the year, the country bought approximately 419 million barrels of oil, which accounts for about 10.7% of US exports.
Mexico (approximately 398 million barrels) and Canada (324 million barrels) ranked next.
Other major buyers include South Korea, Japan, China, and India.

As of 2023, Europe has become the main destination for US oil. This happened as a result of the rejection of Russian oil. However, in 2025, US exports to this region decreased by approximately 7 percent - part of it was squeezed out by increased production from OPEC countries.
Within Europe, the dynamics were uneven: the United Kingdom showed one of the sharpest declines — imports decreased by approximately 35%, while the Netherlands, on the contrary, partially compensated for the overall decline by increasing purchases.
Oil supplies from the US to Asia and Oceania also decreased, especially to China and Singapore. Exports to China sharply decreased amid trade contradictions and competition with cheaper oil of Russian and Iranian origin. At the same time, India and Japan increased their purchases, which indicates a partial redistribution of demand within the region.
Despite the decrease in 2025, US oil exports remain at historically high levels.
