France has recorded a record temperature in the history of meteorological observations.

Modern.az reports that, according to Bloomberg, temperatures in several regions of the country have risen to extremely dangerous levels.

In the city of Pissos, the air temperature reached 44.3°C. The average daily temperature across the country was 29.8°C, which was recorded as the highest in the history of observations.

The record was also broken during the night – the average temperature was 21.6°C. This created an additional burden on public health and infrastructure.

According to the publication, extreme heat has also caused serious problems in the energy system. Due to the excessive heating of river waters, the operation of nuclear power plants has been restricted, and 68,000 people in the Brittany region have been left without electricity. A "red alert" level has been declared in 58 departments of the country.

The situation is similar in Great Britain. Air temperatures have risen to 34.6°C, and temperatures of up to 37°C are expected in London. Approximately 1800 schools have been closed, and 8000 schools have changed their work schedules.

In Paris, several tourist attractions, including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum, have limited their operating hours.

The ongoing heatwaves in many European countries increase the risk of drought and forest fires, while also putting serious pressure on energy and infrastructure systems.
