The Kremlin is using economic pressure and Belarus's dependence on Russia to push Alexander Lukashenka to play a more active role in the war against Ukraine and in pressuring NATO.

Modern.az reports that the US publication "The Wall Street Journal" has released information about this.

According to the publication's claims, Moscow's main goals are:

- More extensive use of attacks against Ukraine from Belarusian territory, including drone strikes

- Diverting resources from other fronts by forcing Ukraine to maintain large military forces on its northern border

- Expanding military cooperation between Minsk and Moscow, increasing joint exercises, and deploying Russian forces in Belarus

- Exerting additional pressure on NATO's eastern flank countries through Belarus's military activity.

However, the publication notes that there are currently no concrete signs of a large-scale attack being prepared against Ukraine from Belarusian territory. Rather, the gradual integration of Minsk into Russian military strategy and the use of the country as a means of pressure on Ukraine and NATO come to the fore.
