Russia's influence in Europe has started to increase again.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Kaya Kallas, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in a statement to journalists.
Kaya Kallas noted that the strengthening of Russia's influence is clearly felt especially in the fields of sports and culture.
“Russia's influence in Europe is growing again. We see this in the field of sports. Russian athletes are participating in international competitions again as if nothing happened. The same situation is observed at the Venice Biennale,” she said.
According to Kallas, the European Commission had previously sent official letters to the organizers of the Venice Biennale regarding the suspension of Russia's participation in the event.
However, after the organizers did not accept this request, the European Commission canceled the 2 million euro grant allocated to the organizers of the biennale.
It should be noted that the Venice Biennale is considered one of the most prestigious international art and culture events in the world. Russia's continued participation in this platform has caused discussions in European political circles.
