Nikol Pashinyan has been sued.

Modern.az reports with reference to Armenian media that the Civil Court of Yerevan has decided to consider the lawsuit filed by Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" party, against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The decision was made by Judge Naira Avetisyan.

Tsarukyan demands Pashinyan to publicly retract the statements he made during a briefing on May 28, apologize, and pay 9 million drams in compensation.

The lawsuit challenges the Prime Minister's statements calling Tsarukyan a "criminal", "spy" and "agent", accusing him of "robbing the Armenian people" and being involved in a "criminal conspiracy". Also, Pashinyan's statement that Andranik Tevanyan was allegedly included in the party list at the behest of a foreign intelligence agency was also a subject of dispute.

In addition to compensation for libel and insult, the plaintiff also demands payment of court costs. According to the lawsuit, the retraction and apology should be disseminated through a number of Armenian media and internet platforms.
