China has launched a new initiative to increase its global influence in the field of artificial intelligence. The country's foreign minister, Wang Yi, announced that Beijing is working on the creation of a global artificial intelligence cooperation organization and invites all countries to join this initiative.

Modern.az reports that the statement was made during the presentation of China's new white paper on artificial intelligence governance. The document emphasized increasing developing countries' access to technologies, strengthening international cooperation, and avoiding closed approaches in the technology sector.

At the same time, at the G7 summit in France, the issue of access to advanced artificial intelligence models in the US being available only to “trusted partners” was discussed. This indicates the formation of two different approaches in the field of artificial intelligence. The US and its allies support controlled access and export restrictions for the most powerful AI models. China, on the other hand, chooses a more open strategy, preferring the dissemination of free or low-cost models.

Beijing is trying to implement its artificial intelligence diplomacy mainly through platforms such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. China also promises support to developing countries in the field of technology and personnel training.
