US Vice President J.D. Vance's planned visit to Switzerland to attend the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran may have been postponed due to Iran's position on Lebanon.
Modern.az reports that this information was disseminated by the US “Axios” portal and Israeli Channel 12 correspondent Barak Ravid.
It was stated that Vance's representative announced that the vice president does not plan to visit Switzerland in the coming days. The visit was intended to include the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, as well as the start of technical talks.
Barak Ravid, citing a US official, writes that one of the possible reasons for the delay is the conditions put forward by Iran regarding the situation in Lebanon.
According to the information, Tehran has informed the US side that it will consider any new military operation by Israel against Lebanon as a violation of the memorandum reached with Washington.
It should be noted that J.D. Vance had previously stated that the signing of the memorandum could take place this weekend, but emphasized that the process largely depended on Iran's decision.
