Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said he would not mediate in the Ukraine conflict during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Tokayev proposed returning to the "Istanbul agreements" to resolve the conflict. He also emphasized Kazakhstan's commitment to strategic cooperation with Russia.
The President of Kazakhstan said: "Perhaps this conflict should be frozen and we should return to the Istanbul formula, because significant results have been achieved there."
He emphasized that "Russia is a great country, the Russian people are a great people, and therefore Russia will solve all issues on its own."
The presidents went to Omsk on July 25 to participate in the Interregional Cooperation Forum. Before the plenary session, the heads of state held bilateral talks.
