"Armenia has taken all necessary steps to open the border with Turkey, and border crossing points have been made ready for the movement of people, goods, and vehicles."
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
According to him, Yerevan is ready to open the border with Turkey at any time.
Khachaturyan noted that there is currently a certain pause in the diplomatic process, but Armenia is looking for solutions to normalize relations with Ankara and ensure peace in the region as a whole.
The Armenian President emphasized that the issue of opening the border with Turkey is also being considered in the context of improving relations with Azerbaijan.
He stated that Yerevan had previously proposed phased steps, including opening the border for diplomats and citizens of third countries.
Khachaturyan cited the joint restoration of the Ani bridge and the holding of an Armenia-Turkey business forum in Yerevan as practical examples of Armenia-Turkey cooperation.
According to the President, trade carried out via the Kars-Akhalkalaki railway is already yielding results. He added that Armenian products are now entering the Turkish market directly with codes, without intermediaries.
Khachaturyan stated that Armenia will continue its activities towards establishing full-fledged economic and political relations with neighboring countries.
