The banana, which is the main part of the work "Banana taped to the wall" exhibited at the "Centre Pompidou" museum in Metz, France, has been stolen.

The incident became known thanks to the attention of a security employee. The museum management immediately contacted the police and wrote an official complaint. The authorities stated that the stolen banana was replaced with a new one in a short time and the exhibition was reopened to visitors.
It should be noted that the first two copies of this installation by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, called "Comedian", were once sold for 120 thousand dollars, and the third one was priced at 150 thousand dollars. Cattelan, known for his satirical works, also had his 18-carat gold toilet sculpture, exhibited in England in 2019, stolen.
