The military confrontation between Iran and the US has escalated again. The parties announced that they carried out mutual attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, and the territory of Jordan.

Modern.az reports that the US Central Command announced that five tankers carrying Iranian crude oil were hit and disabled.

According to the US side, the tankers were targeted in the Gulf of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz, and around Kharg Island. It was reported that the crews of the ships were warned to leave the tankers before the attack.

Washington called the strikes a response to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' attempts to hit a US warship twice with ballistic missiles in recent days.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in turn, announced that during the retaliatory operation, it targeted the US Navy's DDG-119 “USS Delbert D. Black” and DDG-53 “USS John Paul Jones” missile destroyers. It was stated that both ships are equipped with the “Aegis” defense system and cruise missiles.

The Iranian side also stated that it launched ballistic missile strikes on US military bases located in Jordan.

Although Tehran claimed serious damage to American ships, this information has not been confirmed by the US. Differences remain between the parties' statements regarding the results of the attacks and possible losses.
