Saudi Arabia said the Houthis tried to strike Mecca.
Modern.az reports with reference to local media that official Riyadh states that this is the second such attempt against the holy city after the launch of a ballistic missile in July 2017.
The Houthis, however, rejected the accusation that they tried to attack Mecca and announced that they did not target religious sites.
The incident occurred at a time when the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has escalated. Previously, warnings were issued about the threat of an air attack in Mecca and Jeddah.
In recent days, the Houthis have also struck other targets in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh, in turn, resumed strikes on Yemeni territory.
