The Ansarullah movement — Houthis — operating in Yemen announced that they shot down a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet.
Modern.az reports that the movement's military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that the plane was shot down with a locally produced “surface-to-air” missile in the airspace of Yemen's Marib province.
According to the Houthis' claim, the F-15 was carrying out military operations in the region at the time. The movement announced that other Saudi fighter jets sent to the area to search for the plane's wreckage were also forced to retreat by air defense systems.
However, no photos or videos of the alleged wreckage of the downed plane, nor information about the pilot's fate, have been released. Saudi Arabia has not confirmed the claim of an F-15 loss. The information has also not been confirmed by independent sources.
Yahya Saree also claimed that Saudi Arabian F-15 and “Typhoon” fighter jets carried out more than 450 airstrikes on various regions of Yemen in the last week. This figure has also not been independently confirmed
