Residents of the English village of Piddington held a symbolic referendum in protest of plans to house 1,200 migrants nearby.
Modern.az reports, citing Bloomberg, that more than 90 percent of those who participated in the vote in the village, which has a population of approximately 400 people, voted in favor of “leaving” Great Britain.
The vote was prompted by the government's plan to house 1,200 men who had applied for asylum in former military barracks located approximately one kilometer from the village.
The referendum has no legal force and does not create real changes regarding leaving the country. Residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the plan to house migrants.
