In Armenia, a review of the salaries of persons working in the state system is planned from January 1, 2027.
Modern.az reports, citing Armenian media, that the implementation of the decision adopted by the government will cost the state budget an additional approximately 30 billion drams.
According to the draft law, the monthly salary of the Prime Minister and President of Armenia will be increased by approximately 1.5 million drams to 2.6 million drams. Deputy Prime Ministers will receive 2.1 million, and ministers will receive approximately 2 million drams.
The salary increase for high-ranking state officials has caused dissatisfaction in Armenia. According to a comparison made in the press, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's new salary will be approximately 17 times higher than the salary received by teachers in the country.
For comparison, it is stated that the salary of French President Emmanuel Macron is approximately 5 times higher than the average salary of teachers in that country.
Currently, the monthly salary of low and middle-ranking civil servants in Armenia mainly varies between 150-300 thousand drams. Critics believe that additional budget funds should primarily be directed to increasing the incomes of low-paid public sector employees.
