The European Union (EU) has agreed to extend sanctions against Russia, covering 3,000 individuals and legal entities, for another three years.
Modern.az reports that "Reuters" disseminated information citing European diplomats.
It is noted that in exchange for extending the sanctions for three years, Russian billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman were removed from the sanctions list. Latvia opposed this decision until the last moment.
The agency reminds that unanimous support from EU member states is required to extend the sanctions.
It should be noted that sanctions were previously extended every six months.
