US President Donald Trump addressed the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on September 22.
Modern.az reports that in his speech, Trump announced the US position on ending the war in Ukraine, Iran's nuclear program, Cuba, Venezuela, and Greenland.
The US President expressed his belief that a peace agreement would be reached between Russia and Ukraine. Trump said that the US is working with Russian and Ukrainian leaders to stop the war and emphasized that the problem could be resolved sooner than expected.
In his speech on Iran, Trump stated that they would not allow Tehran to possess nuclear weapons. He said that an agreement could be reached between the US and Iran, but emphasized that if such an agreement did not materialize, the US could take tougher steps. In his speech on Iran, Trump even voiced the threat of "destroying" the country. Trump also called on other countries to join the policy of economic isolation against Iran. According to him, the US will use all means to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The US President also touched upon Cuba in his speech. He criticized the Cuban leadership and stated that radical changes would occur in the country. Trump also presented US activities in Venezuela as part of a policy to prevent the strengthening of forces that pose a threat to the US in the Western Hemisphere. Regarding Greenland, Trump announced the signing of a new security agreement between the US, Denmark, and Greenland. The agreement allows the US to expand its military presence in Greenland and establish two new military bases. The White House states that the document strengthens the US's long-term position on Greenland's security.
Trump also touched upon the issue of oil in his speech. He stated that oil prices could significantly decrease if the Iran conflict ends.
