India's arms exports have reached a record high. The country's defense product exports reportedly increased to 3.56 billion euros in the last fiscal year, which is an increase of approximately 63 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
Modern.az reports, citing local media, that Armenia is among India's main arms markets, along with the USA, France, Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles. According to the Indian government, currently 145 exporting companies supply defense products to more than 80 countries.
In this process, Armenia has become one of India's main customers. Open sources state that the total value of arms contracts concluded between India and Armenia has reached approximately 1.7 billion euros.
Armenia has acquired various military systems from India in recent years. These include Pinaka multiple rocket launcher systems, ATAGS artillery systems, Akash air defense systems and Swathi weapon locating radars, as well as various ammunition and other military equipment.
According to information, negotiations are underway to further expand military cooperation between Armenia and India. In particular, possible agreements regarding the “Pralay” tactical “surface-to-surface” missile, the “Astra” “air-to-air” missile and the modernization of Armenia's Su-30SM aircraft are on the agenda.
India's military cooperation with Armenia has expanded significantly in recent years. In August 2026, the two countries signed a memorandum providing for cooperation in research, development, innovation and joint production in the field of defense.
Thus, Armenia has become one of the important foreign markets for India's defense industry.
