After a court decision in the US, reporters from CNN and MS NOW television channels and the "Politico" website have been granted access to the White House again.
Modern.az reports that CNN, MS NOW television channels and the "Politico" website announced on September 24 that their journalists were allowed back into the White House. Previously, despite a court order demanding the return of their accreditation cards, they were still not allowed access to the White House in the morning.
A federal judge, who heard the case based on the appeal of these media organizations against the decision made by US President Donald Trump on September 18, stated that the rights of journalists were not respected and that the said sanction was applied to them without prior warning.
Judge Timothy Kelly demanded that the government immediately return the journalists' “accreditation cards” until further notice or until the court order, which is valid for two weeks, expires.
The lawyer for the three media organizations, Theodore Butrus, welcomed the court decision, calling it “an important decision that reaffirms freedom of the press, the right to due legal process, and the rule of law.”
