France will send troops to Saudi Arabia.
Modern.az reports that French President Emmanuel Macron announced this. He intends to send troops to help defend the oil refinery and the pipeline used to transport crude oil at the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.
Macron said that Paris's decision was agreed with the Saudi Arabian authorities. He also stressed that France is "not involved in any conflict." According to the Wall Street Journal, after the start of the war with Iran, the port of Yanbu became one of the main hubs for the supply of diesel fuel, crude oil and other oil products to Europe.
Through Yanbu, Saudi Arabia can export oil bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. France's decision to send a military contingent was announced at a time when the situation regarding the security of energy infrastructure and oil supply routes in the Middle East has escalated.
It should be noted that the port of Yanbu is 238 kilometers from the city of Medina and 394 kilometers from Mecca.
