Russia's Uralvagonzavod enterprise has announced that the name of the Terminator tank support combat vehicle has been changed.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that from now on the equipment will be known as "Spiridon".
It is reported that the new name is the same as the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin's grandfather.
According to the enterprise, "Spiridon" is considered a rare but respected name in Russia.
"This name was borne by people with a truly strong spirit," the enterprise's statement said.
As an example, the company cited Saint Spiridon Trimifuntski and Hero of the Soviet Union Spiridon Spitsyn.
According to the Rossiya-1 TV channel, the factory discussed about 2,000 options for the new name. Among the options were "Dobrynya", "Bogatyr", "Dmitry Donskoy" and "Uralets".
It should be noted that the tank support combat vehicle was developed on the basis of the T-90 tank platform and was adopted by the Russian ground forces in 2018.
