The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Israel's foreign intelligence service "Mossad" are conducting a joint operation to determine the whereabouts of Iran's supreme religious leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Modern.az reports that "The Times" newspaper, published in London, reported this, citing sources.

According to the information, the purpose of the operation is not to kill Khamenei. Intelligence services are trying to determine if he is alive, where he is hiding, and what his health condition is.

The newspaper writes that since Mojtaba Khamenei has not used any electronic communication since February 28, the CIA and "Mossad" are operating only through local agents.

According to experts, Iran's supreme leader cannot remain completely disconnected from the outside world. Therefore, special services are trying to track down couriers carrying his written messages. According to sources, intelligence services hope to involve one of the people in contact with Khamenei in cooperation.

"The Times" reports that currently, only two or three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) know Khamenei's exact location.

It should be recalled that on March 13, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset announced that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured and might have serious facial injuries. CNN, citing its source, wrote that his leg was broken, and he suffered torn wounds under his left eye during the first strikes by the US and Israel on Iran.

"The New York Times" reported some time ago that Mojtaba Khamenei wanted to appear in public for the first time at the funeral of his father, Ali Khamenei, but the security service did not allow it.
