Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement for the acquisition of 16 Gripen E fighter jets.
Modern.az reports that the delivery of the fighter jets to Kyiv will not take place earlier than 2029.
The agreement was signed in Kyiv during a meeting between Zelensky and Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
These aircraft will be financed with an EU loan and support from the United Kingdom. Ukraine will also receive equipment, technical assistance, and logistics support for the aircraft, while training for Ukrainian pilots and technical staff is already underway in Sweden.
Kyiv is also considering receiving 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets as military aid from Sweden in early 2027.
