A committee of the Iranian parliament has approved the main provisions of a strategic action plan aimed at ensuring security and promoting development in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that this was stated by Valiollah Bayati, spokesman for the Councils and Internal Affairs Committee of the Iranian Parliament, in an interview with Tasnim news agency.
According to him, the “Strategic Action Plan for Ensuring Security and Development in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf” was discussed at the committee meeting. After hearing the opinions of the committee members, the general principles of the document were approved.
Bayati stated that with the support of the committee members, 7 of the 14 articles of the plan were also approved.
The remaining provisions are expected to be discussed and approved at committee meetings next week.
According to Bayati, one of the approved provisions prohibits the passage of facilities and equipment belonging to the United States, the “Zionist regime,” and hostile countries through the Strait of Hormuz.
