Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marko Rubio met in the capital Manila within the framework of ASEAN events held in the Philippines.
Modern.az reports that the photo and video from the meeting were shared by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, on her Telegram channel.
Sergey Lavrov had previously announced that he would meet with Marko Rubio. He stated that during the meeting, Rubio's statements regarding the results of the Anchorage summit, as well as the US position on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, would be discussed.
Marko Rubio also confirmed the meeting, stating that refusing dialogue would be a "thoughtless and irresponsible step" for Washington.
According to TASS agency, the meeting between the parties lasted approximately 30 minutes.
It should be recalled that Rubio stated that various proposals were discussed at the summit held in Alaska in June, but no agreement was reached. According to him, if an agreement had been reached in Anchorage, military operations in Ukraine would have already ended.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, stated that no final agreement was reached at the summit with Donald Trump, and only certain possibilities for stopping the Ukrainian conflict were discussed.
