The state prosecutor in Armenia has resigned from the criminal case involving the Catholicos of All Armenians.
Modern.az reports that Armenia's "Channel 5" disseminated this information.
According to the information, the prosecutor's office leadership initially informed Khachatur Galstyan that the case was unpromising and would be closed at the preliminary investigation stage. However, the case was later sent to court.
It is reported that Galstyan was given two choices: either resign or defend the accusation in court. He chose to resign.
After this, Deputy Prosecutor General Aram Aramyan was appointed as the state prosecutor.
Although the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia confirmed Galstyan's departure from office, it stated that it was not related to the court proceedings.
According to the information, three judges had previously refused to hear this case.
