As of April 1, 2026, the amount of state-guaranteed debt (domestic and foreign debt) amounted to 6 billion 762.4 million manats, or 5.2 percent of the projected GDP for 2026.

Modern.az reports with reference to the Ministry of Finance that 5 billion 186 million manats (3 billion 50.6 million dollars) or 76.7 percent of the state guarantee falls on foreign state-guaranteed loans, and 1 billion 576.4 million manats or 23.3 percent falls on domestic state-guaranteed loans.

The significant reduction in foreign state-guaranteed debt was due to the repayment of foreign currency-denominated bonds in the amount of 2,000 million dollars attracted by “Southern Gas Corridor” CJSC with a state guarantee.

As of April 1, the currency composition of the state-guaranteed debt portfolio was as follows: Dollar – 47 percent, euro – 25.5 percent, manat – 19.4 percent, Japanese yen – 2.7 percent, other currencies – 5.4 percent.

As of the reporting date, 40.1 percent of the state-guaranteed debt portfolio consists of fixed-rate obligations, and 59.9 percent consists of variable-rate obligations.
