A meeting was held with the directors of history and local lore museums of the occupied regions at the "Freedom of Speech Protection Fund." Opening the meeting, the chairman of the fund, renowned poet Musa Yaqub, informed the event participants about the project "Creation of a Virtual Pilot Network of Local Lore Museums in Regions Affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict," which the fund implemented with the financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and spoke about the work done by the project participants over three months.
Speaking later at the meeting, the executive director of the fund, Vugar Tofigli, stated that the project's goal is to create a virtual network of local lore museums across the republic. Speaking about the importance of creating a related database, the project director stated in his speech that through the created resource, information about Azerbaijan's occupied tangible and cultural heritage will first be conveyed to the wider public. Within the framework of the project, after meetings with the heads of district culture departments and museum directors, photographs of over 300 exhibits were submitted to the fund. Information available has already been posted on the www.diyarshunasliq.az website, which was launched through the fund's capabilities. Work on the website, which will be presented in January 2011, is still ongoing.
