Paris was chosen as the best street food city in the world – Athens and London are also on the list
The ranking of the cities offering the best street food in the world has been announced. The capital of France, Paris, topped the list.
Modern.az reports that the research was conducted by Radical Storage and analyzed 6897 street food outlets operating in the 100 most visited cities in the world.
The research considered the number of venues with a rating of four or more stars, the variety of cuisines offered, the availability of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, the proportion of budget-friendly establishments, as well as the density of street food outlets per square kilometer.
The authors of the study included not only mobile stalls and food trucks in street food, but also restaurants offering traditional street food.
In the final evaluation, the greatest weight was given to the density of street food outlets (30 percent). The share of budget-friendly venues was 20 percent, and other indicators – high rating, average price, cuisine diversity, and special food options – each accounted for 10 percent.
Paris came in first with 7.2 points out of a possible 10. 69.1 percent of the 401 street food establishments in the city have a rating of four or more stars. Here, there are an average of 3.82 street food outlets per square kilometer.
Athens took second place in the ranking with 6.9 points. The city offers 29 different cuisines and has 4.21 street food outlets per square kilometer.
In Thessaloniki, which is in third place, 77.1 percent of street food establishments are considered budget-friendly.
