The Ukrainian side announced that citizens of 51 countries fighting in the Russian army have been taken prisoner.
Modern.az reports that Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights, informed about this during his speech at a meeting of the heads of Ukraine's diplomatic missions abroad.
He stated that this fact shows that participation in the war on the Russian side has real legal consequences, and it is important for the international community to speak openly about this.
It should be recalled that in July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung agreed to resolve issues related to North Korean soldiers captured by Ukraine based on humanitarian principles and their own will.
Previously, it was also announced that a citizen of Tajikistan, who had worked as a labor migrant in Russia for many years, voluntarily surrendered as a prisoner through Ukraine's state project "I Want to Live."
The Ukrainian side also states that Moscow is not interested in exchanging foreign servicemen captured while fighting in the Russian Armed Forces. It is noted that among the prisoners are citizens of Nepal, Somalia, Yemen, Sri Lanka, and other countries.
