Iran has signed a secret arms deal worth 500 million euros (approximately 589 million dollars) with Russia.

Modern.az reports that the "Financial Times" newspaper published information on this matter, citing leaked documents and sources familiar with the agreement.

According to the information, the agreement was signed in Moscow in December 2025, and Russia has undertaken to deliver 500 portable "Verba" launch systems and 2,500 "9M336" type missiles to Iran between 2027 and 2029. It is reported that the agreement was reached as a result of negotiations between Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport and the Moscow representation of Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.

The newspaper writes that Tehran officially ordered these systems in July of last year.

It should be recalled that in June of last year, US forces struck Iran's main nuclear facilities. Although US President Donald Trump stated at the time that Iran's main nuclear infrastructure had been destroyed, initial assessments by US intelligence noted that the strikes did not completely dismantle the program, but only set it back by a few months. Iranian officials, however, claim that the country's military capabilities have been restored and are stronger than before.

A strategic partnership agreement exists between Russia and Iran, but the document does not include a mutual defense obligation. Earlier this month, a Russian naval corvette conducted joint maneuvers with the Iranian navy in the Gulf of Oman.
