Significant changes have been recorded in the demographic composition of Germany's population.
Modern.az reports that, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Office and "Deutsche Welle", the number of residents of migration background in the country reached approximately 21.8 million in 2025. This constitutes 26.3% of the total population.
It is noted that persons of migration background refer to first-generation immigrants who moved to Germany, as well as individuals whose both parents came to the country after 1950.
According to statistics, the number of non-migration background population in Germany is 56.8 million, which is approximately 68.6% of the total population.
In 2025, 39% of the 16.4 million immigrants living in the country mainly come from a few countries. Poland and Turkey each rank first with 1.5 million people. They are followed by Ukraine (1.3 million), Russia (1 million), and Syria (1 million).
Experts believe that these indicators once again demonstrate the increasing dynamism of migration processes in Germany and the country's continued transformation into a multinational society.
