Countries around the world have begun monitoring passengers to prevent the further spread of hantavirus detected on a cruise ship.
Modern.az reports with reference to "Reuters" agency that people who left the ship before the detection of the virus and those who were in close contact with them have been taken under control.
The ship operator stated that all passengers who disembarked on St. Helena Island, where the ship docked on April 24, have been contacted. According to the information, these individuals are citizens of at least 12 countries. Among them are 7 people from Great Britain and 6 from the USA.
Currently, hantavirus infection has been confirmed in 5 people, and several more individuals are suspected of being infected with the virus. The number of people who have lost their lives due to the virus is reported to be 3. Two of the deceased are a married couple who are citizens of the Netherlands, and one is a citizen of Germany.
