The Strait of Hormuz will not be opened by military operation.
Modern.az reports, citing "Report", that this was stated by Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad.
"The Strait of Hormuz will not be opened by military operation, we will not surrender," he said.
The Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament stated that the people dealt a strong blow to the US:
"The world must accept that it is facing a power that does not surrender under any pressure. Iran has dragged America and Israel into an inextricable quagmire. Our armed forces have taught America a lesson in history and geography."
It should be recalled that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran, and air strikes were carried out on a number of cities. On the same day, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strikes. In response, Iran launched missile strikes on Israeli territory and attacked US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the US and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8. Trump later extended the ceasefire indefinitely.
The parties held talks in Pakistan to resolve the conflict, but the first round held on April 11-12 yielded no results.
The US blockaded Iranian ports and passage through the Strait of Hormuz to put pressure on Tehran. Iran, in turn, announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for ships heading to the Persian Gulf. The dynamically changing situation in the region has led to a global energy crisis.
