Iran announced that it has halted military operations after retaliatory strikes against Israel, and warned that a harsher response would be given in case of new provocations.
Modern.az reports that the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, Khatam al-Anbiya, stated in a statement that military activity has been suspended after operations carried out in response to Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and the Dahiya region of Beirut.
The statement noted that the Iranian Armed Forces gave a "painful response" to Israel's military operations in support of the Lebanese people.
"The powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic gave a painful response to this regime in support of the oppressed people of Lebanon," the statement said.
The headquarters emphasized that Israel and its allies should learn from this incident.
"The cessation of operations by the armed forces is announced. At the same time, it is emphasized that if aggression and provocations, including attacks in southern Lebanon, continue, much heavier and more devastating measures will be taken than before," the statement noted.
The Iranian side claimed that Israel's attacks were carried out with the support of the United States and drew attention to the risk of new escalation in the region.
