According to Bangladesh legislation, the president's resignation letter must be accepted by the speaker of parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The speaker, who is currently in Thailand for treatment, is expected to return to the capital Dhaka on Friday, after which the resignation procedure will be formalized.
