Ukraine has called Iran's recent statements baseless and accused Tehran of being a direct participant in Russia's war against Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in response to a post by his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi.
According to Sybiha, Iran has been supporting the war against Ukraine by supplying Russia with weapons since 2022, and therefore has no basis to present itself as a victim.
He also stated that Tehran is trying to distract attention from Russia's attacks on civilian shipping in the Black Sea with these statements.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia's attacks against freedom of navigation will be one of the main topics of discussion at today's emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, and Kyiv expects a firm stance from the international community.
