In the 1/16 final match of the World Cup between Cabo Verde and Argentina, the African team lost 2:3 in extra time, and the player scored in the 103rd minute by skillfully passing midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and sending the ball into the top corner of the goal defended by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
In the voting, Cabral surpassed Eldor Shomurodov (Uzbekistan) and Wilson Isidore (Haiti), who took second and third places. Kylian Mbappe (France), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Jude Bellingham (England), and Ferran Torres (Spain) were also nominated for the award.
