Colombia's newly elected president, Abelardo de la Espriella, said that within the framework of the policy of optimizing state expenditures, his country plans to close its embassies in 15 states, including Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that he stated this in his television address.
De la Espriella noted that from the moment of inauguration, he will close at least 15 Colombian embassies.
These are embassies in Algeria, Azerbaijan, Barbados, Cuba, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Hungary, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Romania, Senegal and South Africa.
He also confirmed that Colombia will stop the process of opening an embassy in Palestine.
Abelardo de la Espriella won the presidential elections held in Colombia in June of this year. He will officially start serving as head of state on August 7.
