Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on increasing the штаt number of the Armed Forces.
Modern.az reports that, according to the decree, the total штаt number of the Russian army has been increased to 2 million 426 thousand 130 people. The number of military personnel has been increased from 1 million 510 thousand to 1 million 535 thousand people.
The document will come into force on August 1. The decree states that the changes are related to the creation of military-construction units in the Russian Armed Forces.
Previously, a decree on increasing the штаt number of the army to 2 million 399 thousand 130 people was signed a little earlier. The reason for that increase was not disclosed.
This is the third decree on increasing the size of the army in the last six months, after decisions adopted in March and June 2026. Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Vladimir Putin has increased the size of the army for the sixth time.
