85 illegal migrants have been detained off the coast of Izmir province, Turkey.
Modern.az reports with reference to "TRT Haber" that the country's Coast Guard Command issued a statement about this.
It was reported that coast guard forces detected two boats in the region with the help of a mobile coastal surveillance system and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
"During the operation, 53 people, including 11 children, were detained in one of the boats, and 32 people in the other boat. Thus, a total of 85 illegal migrants were caught," the statement said.
4 people suspected of migrant smuggling were detained in connection with the incident.
After the necessary procedures were completed, the illegal migrants were handed over to the Migration Department.
